Under the Environmental Protection Act (1990), all businesses (including those operating from home), have a legal responsibility to safely contain and dispose of any waste produced as a result of their business.
Legal responsibilityThis legal responsibility includes holiday let properties. Business rates do not include the cost of collection and disposal of your business waste.
Ryedale District Council can offer you a range of options for the collection and disposal of your holiday accommodation waste (all prices are exempt from VAT):
Standard holiday let collection service
- Annual charges start from £290.77 for the standard alternate week collection of refuse and recycling.
- We know that not all holiday lets can accommodate bins, but we can still service your property. We offer a bin liners service where we can provide you with a roll of 52 liners, with charges starting from £143.38 per pack.
Seasonal holiday lets
Although our annual charges are fixed between 1st April and 31st March, your property may only be available for letting for part of the year. This is where you can benefit from a seasonal Commercial Waste Contract. For a tailored quote, please complete the contact form and select “Commercial Waste and Recycling”.
Multiple holiday lets
If you own a number of holiday lets in the same building or on the same site, you will require a larger bin. Please complete the contact form and select “Commercial Waste and Recycling” outlining a brief description of your requirements, and we will provide a tailored quote.
Cancelling your service
You can cancel your service at any time although we require one months’ written notice. If you choose to discontinue your collections with us, we will remove your property from our rounds and the bin(s) will be removed from your property.
