Opening and closing times

Ryedale District Council at Ryedale House

  • Closing: Friday, 21 December 2018 at 4pm (phones remain open until 4.30pm)
  • Re-opening: Wednesday, 2 January 2019 at 9.00am

Christmas and New Year holiday waste and recycling collection arrangements

Please check our Find your bin collection day page for details of the dates of your collections over the Christmas period.

  • Week commencing 24 December 2018 - household collections will be up to 2 days late from the 25 December. Please note collection on the 24 December 2018 will remain the same.
  • Week commencing 31 December 2018 - all household collections will be one day late from the 2 January 2019. Please note collections on the 31 December 2018 will remain the same
  • Please have your waste out for collection by 6.00a.m. as collection times may vary
  • Any extra refuse will be collected with your first refuse collection after Christmas
  • Any extra cans, glass and paper will be collected with your first recycling collection after Christmas. Please place in non-returnable bags next to your kerbside box

Christmas trees can be taken to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre (skip site) at Malton, Thornton le Dale and Wombleton. All tinsel and plastic decorations must be removed as these can cause considerable nuisance to the local farmers who compost the trees.

Most Christmas cards can be recycled in your blue bag - no glitter, plastic or ribbons please.

Week commencing Monday 24 December 2018 – Trade waste collections will operate on Monday 24 December through to Sat 29 December with the exception of 25 and 26 December 2018.

North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership

The Partnership will close for the Christmas holiday, opening hours are as follows. There will be a skeleton service provided over this close-down period for essential calls.

Requests for inspections are to be made at least one working day prior to the inspection date by contacting one of the above officers and only urgent calls will be undertaken.

Any reports of dangerous structure or buildings should be notified direct to the appropriate Local Authority using their out of hours phone line:
