Key Statistics

The key statistics from the Census 2011, at a Ward and Parish level, have now been released. The statistics are available via the ONS website and the NeSS website.

Key statistics from the 2011 Census at a local authority level are available by using a comparator tool.

Previous releases have included:

  • the resident population by age and sex at national, regional and local authority level
  • the number of households at national, regional and local authority level
  • the number of short term migrants on census day at local authority level

The Statistical Digest of Rural England 2014 is produced by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

Profile of Ryedale

Ryedale is a predominantly rural area covering 150,659 hectares in North Yorkshire. Geographically the largest district in North Yorkshire, Ryedale comprises a rich agricultural area, as well as including part of the North York Moors National Park (hectares figure ONS 2001 Census).

In 2011 the census population figure for Ryedale was 51,700. This is an increase of 1.6% from the 2001 census figure of 50,868.

The number of households in Ryedale (occupied by at least one usual resident) is 22,500, Census 2011.
