August – Love your neighbour

Love your neighbour – looking at anti-social behaviour, air pollution, bonfires and noise issues.

We all want to be able to live peacefully in our homes without dealing with anti-social behaviour in our communities.

Due to consistent work on the part of the Police and Safer Ryedale partnership as a whole, all districts of Ryedale have seen significant decreases in ASB. However, despite these reductions, ASB continues to place a significant demand on the resources of our partners.

Anti-social behaviour was also identified by the community as one of the top priorities for the partnership to tackle. The public are particularly concerned about rubbish and litter, people being drunk and rowdy in public places, teenagers hanging around the streets, and vandalism, graffiti and other deliberate damage to property or vehicles.

More information including how to report anti-social behaviour is available from North Yorkshire Police.

You can report anti-social behaviour here.

You can find out more about how we monitor air pollution. You can also find out about domestic bonfires – what is allowed, what isn’t and how we can help.

We have powers to reduce noise levels in response to complaints. As well as complaints from commercial activities, complaints are also received from domestic properties. Examples of the most common noise complaints include:

  • domestic noise from DIY, car repairs, loud televisions and music systems;
  • loud music from a bar or a club;
  • noise from a factory or other business premise; and
  • construction site noise.
