Malton and Norton Neighbourhood Plan

Designation of a Neighbourhood Area – Malton and Norton Neighbourhood Area.

In February 2019 the District Council designated the Malton and Norton Neighbourhood Area for neighbourhood planning purposes. The application to designate the area was made jointly by Malton and Norton Town Councils.

The extent of the Neighbourhood Area is illustrated on this map (PDF, 1 page, 388kb)

Application for the designation of a neighbourhood area

Malton and Norton Town Councils are committed to jointly preparing a Neighbourhood Plan for the towns. A Neighbourhood Plan is a document which contains local planning policies that will influence decisions on new development in the future.

An important step in the neighbourhood plan process is the designation of the neighbourhood area. This is the area that the neighbourhood plan will cover. The Town Councils applied to the District Council to designate the Malton and Norton Neighbourhood Area. They proposed that the area should include all of the area of the parishes of Malton and Norton.

A map of the proposed area and a statement by the Town Councils explaining why the area should be designated as a neighbourhood area can be viewed below.
