Planning consultation meetings during urgency powers
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, Ryedale District Council has suspended all upcoming Council and committee meetings and is operating under Constitutional urgency powers. Urgency powers enables the Chief Executive to make decisions in consultation with relevant elected members while formal meetings continue to be suspended.
To enable democratic involvement to continue in respect of planning decisions, the Planning Committee have begun to hold virtual consultation meetings. During these meetings, Planning Committee members have the opportunity to provide their views and participate in virtual indicative votes on applications which would normally be considered by the Committee. Along with specialist Planning Officer advice, the views expressed at the consultation meeting and the outcome of the meeting’s indicative votes are then used to inform planning decisions made by the Chief Executive under urgency powers.
Recordings of the planning consultation meetings will be made available here within 2 working days of the meeting.
