Ryecare Lifeline Service

The Ryecare Lifeline Service provides users with the reassurance that if they need assistance, at any time of day or night, they can quickly summon the right kind of help.

What is a Lifeline?

A Lifeline is a unit fitted in your home, which uses a telephone connection to automatically dial and call for help. To summon help, a user need only press a red button on an alarm pendant or alarm unit and a call will automatically be made to Ryecare Support Centre, based in Malton and open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

Local trained operators then:

  • know who the caller is and where they live
  • are able to determine their problem and summon help
  • know who the emergency contacts are and keyholders are
  • have details of the customers GP and any medical problems that they may have

Who can benefit from a Ryecare Lifeline?

Residents of Ryedale who are:-

  • older people
  • worried about living alone
  • young or old with a disability
  • concerned about a vulnerable relative or friend
  • family members who will be afforded peace of mind

How much does it cost?

Charges for the Ryecare Lifeline Service effective from 1 April 2018

Lifeline only £5.25 per week £68.25 per quarter

Popular telecare sensors which can be added to the lifeline to provide added reassurance

  • Smoke alarm 0.97p per week £12.61per quarter
  • Falls detector £2.08 per week £27.04 per quarter

Combinations of the above

  • Lifeline with a smoke alarm £80.86 per quarter
  • Lifeline with a falls detector £95.29 per quarter
  • Lifeline with both a smoke alarm and falls detector £107.90

Where a telecare sensor is added, customers will receive a six monthly visit to test and maintain the sensor.

Most lifelines fitted by Ryecare have friends and family as responders. Ryecare encourage customers to nominate as many responders themselves as possible. If a prospective customer has no responders to nominate, Ryecare can provide an emergency response undertaken by a local care provider. This response is charged per call out. The average call out fee is between £25-£35.
