Business grants
There are currently several government schemes available to businesses. More information is available on our COVID-19 - Support for Business page.
The Council has three regular grant schemes to support communities to achieve sustainable growth and to identify solutions and improvements to meet local needs. The three areas where applications for grants are now being accepted are:
- Community Grants - open to any Ryedale community based organisation or group, for projects that make a positive impact on community owned or managed facilities and activities in Ryedale. Applications will be considered by Council Members at three meetings in 2020/21. Closing date for applications is 4 January 2021 for a decision on 18 March 2021.
- Public Open Space and Recreation Grants - using developer contributions to provide or improve greenspace, sports and recreation facilities. Applications will be considered by Council Members at three meetings in 2020/21. Closing date for applications is 4 January 2021 for a decision on 18 March 2021.
- Flood Grants - to support community resilience plans and mitigate flood impacts. Applications will be considered by Council Members at three meetings in 2020/21. Closing date for applications is 4 January 2021 for a decision on 18 March 2021.

The Community Grant is open to any Ryedale community based organisation or group, for projects that make a positive impact on community owned or managed facilities and activities in Ryedale, such as village halls, play areas, sports facilities, village owned shops and activities that support the local community.
We would recommend you make contact prior to completing the application form and we can also meet with you to discuss your project. Please contact the Community Team tel 01653 600666 for help and advice.

Please ensure that you download the form to your hard drive to enable you to complete and return the form. You will need an up to date version of Adobe Reader to electronically fill in this form. You should preferably submit the application electronically, although hard copy is acceptable.
If you need help filling in the form, require a hard copy of the application form or need assistance with developing your application or group, please contact the Community Team. Officers can also direct you to other agencies and funding bodies who may be able to help with your project, including finding match funding.

The Public Open Space and Recreation Facilities Grant uses funding from 'Section 106' Planning Agreements. Funding is provided by developers of projects such as house building or retail development projects, to create or improve local facilities within a given geographical area and timescale - the exact nature of this is identified in a 'Section 106' agreement for each site.

The Grant is open to any Ryedale community based organisation or group, for projects that provide or improve Public Open Space and Recreation facilities in line with the relevant S106 Agreements. This includes facilities such as;
- Parks, gardens, amenity green space
- Natural and semi-natural open space
- Play areas
- Sports facilities (outdoor pitches, indoor or outdoor courts, sports halls and equipment)
- Allotments

Applicants are required to apply formally for a grant using the online Application Form (PDF, 5 pages, 204kb). Please ensure that you download the form to your hard drive to enable you to complete and return the form.

Funding Central is a free resource for charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises based in England. It lists thousands of funding and finance opportunities and tools and information to help support you to develop a sustainable income strategy.
Other potential project funding sources, include Yorventure and the North York Moors National Park.
The Council Business Plan for 2017 to 2022 sets the strategic priorities for the Council and aligns the Business Plan and the Medium Term Financial Strategy to support the delivery of the Councils transformation programme – Towards 2020.
