What is a local land charge?
A land ‘charge’ is a restriction on a piece of land. It either limits the use of the land, or means that money needs to be paid for something. Land charges pass from one owner to another when a property (or land) is bought and sold. The word ‘charge’ just means the property/land has some sort of burden.
We keep a list of all Ryedale’s land charges in our Local Land Charges Register.
What is the Local Land Charges Register?
Our Local Land Charges Register records all relevant information about any ‘charges’ that might affect a property or piece of land in Ryedale.
It includes important information on things like conservation areas, Tree Preservation Orders, enforcement notices and Home Improvement Grants, as well as any financial charges. Financial charges might include things like maintenance charges, listed buildings charges, drainage scheme charges or civil aviation charges.
