Transitional relief limits how much your bill can change each year as a result of revaluation.
It means changes to your bills are phased in gradually, if you are eligible.
What is revaluation?
Revaluation is where the rateable value of your business property is adjusted to reflect changes in the property market.
Can I get transitional rate relief?
You get transitional relief if your:
- Property is in England
- Rates go up or down by more than a certain amount
If you meet the criteria we adjust your bill automatically.
- The amount your bill changes from one year to the next depends on your property’s rateable value and whether or not your bills are increasing or decreasing because of revaluation
You can find more information about transitional rate relief on the GOV.UK website.
