We offer a fortnightly garden waste kerbside collection service for citizens that have subscribed to the service. An annual subscription operates April to November and then again in March (there are no collections in December, January and February). During the winter closedown, any garden waste can be taken to your household waste recycling centre.Sign up to the 2022-2023 garden waste service now
Garden Waste Collection Arrangements
Visit our find your bin collection day page to check your collection day. The garden waste service is not affected by Bank Holiday Mondays – however the service will be disrupted for any other week day bank holiday.
If you choose to join the scheme, you will need to display a valid subscription card on your brown wheeled bin.
For some citizens a wheeled bin is not suitable and a pack of compostable liners will be issued instead.
If you do not have a brown bin at your property or need additional bins for the additional subscription cards purchased, please complete a request form for an additional or replacement brown bin. You can also use this link to replace a damaged brown bin.
What can you put in your brown bin?
Find out what you can put in your brown bin here.
What happens once you have bought a subscription?
Once payment has been received, if you are a new subscriber you will be sent a confirmation letter (informing you that you have subscribed to the service) along with your subscription card. Your subscription card will need to be affixed to your bin to show the collection crew that you have paid to receive the service. Only your address will appear on the subscription card. Bins without current subscription cards will not be emptied. Please remember to have your bin/containers out ready for collection at 6am on your collection day.
Your subscription card will be delivered to you within 14 days of payment.
Renewals will not receive a new card and should keep the existing card attached to the brown bin.
If, after subscribing, your card goes missing or is damaged you can order a replacement card by emailing email@example.com
Not subscribing to the service?
If you have not subscribed to the service and would like us to remove your unwanted brown bin, please complete the online enquiry form to arrange for it to be collected. Brown bins remain the property of the Council and at some point in the future may be collected from your property with prior notice.
