Ryedale District Council successfully bid for funding from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development to develop a new cycle route linking Malton and Pickering.
This exciting project launched on 9 May 2022, providing additional opportunities for active tourism and outdoor activities.
The paths on the cycle route mainly follow existing country roads and bridleways.
Highlights of the route
The 12-mile (19km) cycling route connects the historic market towns of Malton – Yorkshire’s Food Capital, and Pickering – home to the world-famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
The route takes cyclists through beautiful villages, alongside lush farmland and key attractions including Beck Isle Museum, Eden Camp, Flamingo Land, Malton Museum, North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Pickering Castle.
