Cooling tower registration
All premises where cooling towers and evaporative condensers are situated must register with us under The Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.
The prime purpose of this is to identify potential areas that could give rise to spread of infectious disease e.g. legionella and to ensure preventative measures are taken to eliminate the risk of such infection arising to employees and the public.
Notification must be in writing (including by electronic means) on a form approved by the Health and Safety Executive.
You must notify us of any changes to the notification information within one month of the change, in writing.
If the device ceases to be a notifiable device you must notify us in writing as soon as possible.
To notify us of any cooling towers or evaporative condensers on your premises or to tell us about a change to any existing cooling towers or evaporative condensers on your premises, please submit an Enquiry Form.
There is no fee for this registration.
Please contact the Local Authority in the first instance.
Please contact the Local Authority in the first instance or, to report noise or pollution, etc please use our Report Form.
We would always advise that in the event of a complaint the first contact is made with the trader by you - preferably in the form a letter (with proof of delivery). If that has not worked and you are located in the UK, Citizens advice consumer helpline will give you advice. From outside the UK contact the UK European Consumer Centre.
