Leader
In May of each year, at the Annual Meeting of Council, the Council decides whether or not to appoint a Leader. The Council does not currently have a Leader.
Chair
The current Chair of the Council is Councillor Clive Wass (Liberal). He was elected by our Councillors to serve as Chairman on 19 May 2022 and represents the Pickering East Ward.
The Chair of Council acts as the civic, ceremonial and non-political head of the District of Ryedale. The role includes:
- Chairing meetings of the full Council
- Representing Ryedale District Council at ceremonial occasions
- Attending a wide range of events and presentations on behalf of the Council and the district
The Vice-Chair
Councillor Janet Frank (Independent for Ryedale) was elected as the Vice-Chair of the Council on 19 May 2022.
