In 2020, elections took place against the backdrop of COVID-19 restrictions.
These are some of the special arrangements we put in place to make polling stations safe for voters and the people staffing the election.
- We carried out risk assessments at each polling station and put measures in place to keep everyone safe
- Staff had safety equipment, including screens, hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, additional signage and cleaning products to keep the polling station clean
- We limited the number of voters that entered a station at any one time. We also had one-way systems and social distancing. Voters wore a mask (unless exempt)
- Voters had their own pencil or pen
