Ryedale Biodiversity Fair 2007
Ryedale Biodiversity
Fair – A Resounding Success!
The fair held on 10 February 2007 to launch the Ryedale BAP
exceeded all expectations with excess of 1,500 people attending the
day-long event, giving the Ryedale Biodiversity Action Plan a
tremendous boost.
Opened by Gervase Phinn, it was a great day involving many
local organisations.
Despite the poor weather on the day the Milton rooms in
Malton were buzzing with activities with a biodiversity theme.
There were many activities for families, from making animal prints
with the Howardian Hills AONB, looking at owl pellets with the Hawk
and Owl Trust, and face painting with the Bumble Bee Conservation
Trust.
700 Hazel, Rowan and Guelder rose trees were given out by
Ryedale District Council to mark the occasion of the launch
and we made 60 hedgehog boxes on the day for people to take home
and place in their gardens.
There was good news as well for the various stallholders who
did a brisk trade in organic locally-produced goodies.
