Many thanks to regular contributor Graham Piercy who
has sent us two great shots of local wildlife. The young blackbird
was taken in his garden in Malton, whilst the squirrel was seen at
Castle Howard.


New contributor Nick Fletcher of Norton has sent us
some great shots of the Malton Food Lovers' Festival. You can also

New contributor Nick Fletcher of Norton has sent us
further proof that Spring 2011 has now arrived in Ryedale with
these beautiful shots of the daffodils at Castle Howard. You can

Regular contributor Jon Zigmond has sent us proof that Spring
has now arrived in the moors with these lovely wild daffodils in

Trevor Holmes thinks we've seen enough of the snow on this
homepage and sends us a lovely image of a Buzzard circling at
Langton in the early Spring sunshine on 8 March 2011. You can also

Regular contributor Jon Zigmond has kept a record of the
effects of the snow in and around Rosedale Abbey from
Thursday, 25 November to Sunday 28 November 2010. You can see a

Trevor Holmes has also sent us this lovely shot of a wintry
scene at Langton in the late November sun and snow.

Regular contributor Graham Piercy has reminded us that
this Autumn was a stunning time for all sorts of fungi. You

Regular contributor Jon Zigmond has again sent us
some dramatic shots of the effect of the heavy rain at

Regular contributor Graham Piercy has again sent us some of
his excellent nature shots, including the snake-like fungus below,

Regular contributor Jon Zigmond has sent us some excellent
images of one of our local shows, the Rosedale Show held on 21

The excellent Graham Piercy sends us a number of nature shots in
the late Spring 2010 sunshine. He writes: the duck is out for
a stroll in a meadow near Slingsby, the blue tit is having a bite
to eat in my garden in Malton, the two orange tip butterflies were
taken at Ness, one showing the amazing camouflage on the underside
of the female and one showing the fantastic colour of the orange
wing tips of the male, the wood ant picture was taken in the woods
near Pockley and the ladybirds were captured doing what comes
naturally on a on a fence at Castle Howard.

Jon Zigmond shares with us some lovely images of Rosedale
daffodils taken on Saturday, 17 April 2010. He writes: "I attach
some photos taken this morning of wild daffodils by Northdale Beck
(Rosedale)."

Graham Piercy again with a couple of lovely shots of
wildlife waking up to Spring 2010.
A squirrel was enjoying a bite to eat at a feeding station
near Sawdon.

The little mouse posed for a photograph at the side of a public
walk in Coneysthorpe.

Graham Piercy is back with more signs of Spring - this time in
Cropton (2 March 2010).

Jon Zigmond shows us the first signs of Spring in snowy
Rosedale.

Regular contributor Graham Piercy sends us three excellent
images and writes:
"In the last couple of hours (Sunday morning, 22 February 2010)
we have had an amazing snowfall, the largest flakes and the slowest
fall I have ever seen. I captured this macro as they landed, look
at the brilliant large crystals."

"The Robin shot was taken in the woods near Castle Howard."

"I took this humorous starling shot in my mother's back garden
at Norton, entitled 'I wish'."

for a little bit of colour on Sunday (7 February) in this drab

Spring 2009 is here, so two shots of the daffodils at Castle
Howard in the sunshine submitted by Phil Hancock of
Norton.

A chilly start to December 2008, Old Malton in the snow (from
opposite the Council's Ryedale House) submitted by Phil Hancock,
Performance Manager at the Council.

A great shot from Denys Townsend of Leavening of

Another superb shot from Graham Piercy, this time showing the
splendid autumnal colours around Castle Howard on Friday, 7
November 2008.

This night shot was contributed by Mick Phythian, IT Manager at
the Council, and shows badgers burglaring a bird table near
Cropton. In all there were also a couple of squirrels and six Jays,
plus six badgers in total.



Thank you again to Graham Piercy from Malton for these wonderful
photographs taken in and around the town which he has entitled "The
Magic of Nature".

Graham Piercy from Malton sent this wonderful photograph of
an eagle owl in flight at Sutton Park.

An intriguing shot of Castle Howard Lake sent by Councillor Robert
Wainwright.

This interesting and lovely image, submitted by Daisy Barnes
of Wombleton, shows a sunlit frozen spider's web against a Council
"brown bin".
