York Road Industrial Park welcomes High Speed Broadband grant
support

Ryedale District Council has been working to identify broadband
aspirations and needs in Ryedale. Our research has shown that
businesses that are able to access quality broadband can maximise
growth and effectively use the technology to be competitive and
develop.
As a result of this work, RDC has been able to secure funding
for a pilot project, working with the York, North Yorkshire &
East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). The project
supports businesses by offering one to one advice from a specialist
who can review and make specific recommendations on how technology,
enabled by broadband, can help their business develop. Each
business will be able to access a grant to contribute to the
recommendations, such as the connection charge to the wireless
broadband system available on the Estate or new software associated
with the use of high speed broadband. We will be holding an event
at Derwent Training, York Road Industrial Estate, Malton 8 February
3.30pm - 7:30pm, open to all businesses located on the Estate to
outline the project and explain the benefits of wireless high speed
technology. Limited funding is available and will be on a first
come basis.
Cllr Keith Knaggs, Leader of RDC and LEP Board Member.“It’s
really great that we’ve been able to secure for Malton one of North
Yorkshire’s two pilot high-speed business broadband projects. This
is down to early involvement by Ryedale officers and the Ryedale
Strategic Partnership, backed by the LEP. Businesses on the
York Road Estate have the opportunity to increase their profits and
hence their ability to grow, re-invest, and create new jobs,
through participation in the modern digital world. I hope as many
as possible will seize the opportunity.”
Val Richards, Chief Executive - ‘’Derwent Training is pleased to
be supporting Ryedale District Council with this much needed high
speed broadband facility. Our own on-site facilities
include online exam capability, short IT courses for beginners as
well as experienced users who want to increase their skills and the
latest hi spec computers and 3D printing is also
available.’’
