Ryedale website remains a winner!

Ryedale District Council’s website is amongst the best in the country.

In the latest national annual of council websites published by the Society of Information Technology Management (Socitm), Ryedale District Council’s continues to be amongst the best in the country.

“Ryedale District Council always tries to provide where possible as much information and services around the clock by encouraging residents and visitors to make applications and find information on the website,” said Cllr John Raper, IT Champion for Ryedale District Council.

“As with many other things in life, national statistics demonstrate that dealing with any service online can be faster, done when convenient to the citizen and reduce costs to the provider. So Ryedale District Council encourages people, where possible, to use its web site.“

One of the latest developments with the website is a new public access system which has gone live this week.

The system allows residents and external consultees to

  • view applications on-line
  • view plans and associated documents
  • comment on applications on-line
  • track an application and be updated on the application status
  • search on a map for any recent permissions
  • do address searches

“More than 150, 000 visits were paid to the Ryedale District Council site in 2009,” added Cllr Raper.

“We continually seek the feedback of users to help us improve the service and the planning facility is one of the services that has been requested.  I am sure it will make a vital boost for website users.”
