Ryedale Tourist Information Centres Nominated for Top
Awards
Two of Ryedale's
tourist information centres have been shortlisted for a top
award.
Malton and Pickering Tourist Information Centres have both been
nominated for the 'Visitor Information' award in the tourism
"Oscars", the 2010 'Welcome to Yorkshire' White Rose
Awards.
The winner will be announced at a special awards ceremony to be
held in October.
"We are delighted that staff at both of the Tourist Information
Centres have been recognised once again for their huge efforts to
provide a cost effective and efficient service for both local
people and visitors to the area. The nomination is a well-deserved
recognition of the consistent high level of service our information
centres give." said Les Clarke, Tourist Information Centres'
Manager for Ryedale District Council.
The regional tourism body, 'Welcome to Yorkshire', organises the
awards in 16 categories each year to recognise excellence in the
many different aspects of the industry. The awards are highly
regarded in the industry, and the showpiece awards ceremony will
again be part of a live television broadcast on 4 October 2010.
Further information can be found at:
White Rose Awards
2010.
The Tourist Information Award is judged on the basis of detailed
written submission and 'mystery shopper' assessments of the TICs'
performance over a period. Ryedale's TICs have on many occasions in
previous years been finalists and winners in these
prestigious awards. The winner in each category of the awards is
put forward as the regional nomination for the 'Excellence in
England' national tourism awards which are announced in March of
the following year, and both Malton and Pickering TICs are past
winners nationally too.
