Popular Give or Take Arrives in Pickering
Pickering and District Civic Society, together with Ryedale
Lions Club, are holding a 'Give or Take Day' at the Memorial Hall
in Pickering on Saturday, 20 March 2010 from 9am – 4pm.
This follows on from similar events held recently in Malton and
Kirkbymoorside, which have proved to be hugely popular with local
residents. Ryedale District Council is supporting 'Give or Take
Days' as events that produce real benefits in terms of diverting
materials from landfill. Re-using materials should always be
considered before recycling or disposal
A 'Give or Take Day' is a fun, community waste exchange event
giving the chance for people in Pickering to pass on items, such as
bric-a-brac, clothing or items of furniture and to pick up
something they need. And it's all for free!
So, if you are looking for household items, or want to swap some
spare clothing for an item of jewellery, come along and see what is
on offer.
'Give or Take Days' offer an exciting opportunity for people to
have a clear out of household items cluttering up their home or
garage and provide others the chance to pick up items they
need.
Susan Strange, from Pickering and District Civic Society says,
"We simply throw away far too many good re-usable items to landfill
which could easily be re-used or recycled and this fun event is
designed to tackle this problem".
'Give or Take Days' also offer those on low incomes, or tight
household budgets a chance to pick up household items they need.
"By exchanging goods we can all save a bit of money", said
Susan.
Most people in the Pickering area will have items they no longer
need or use, so it's much better to pass these on for re-use than
discard them.
The day will be fun for all the family and you never know, you
might find something that you have always been looking for –
for free! Everybody is welcome.
If you need more information about the day, contact Susan on

turn up on Saturday, 20 March at the Memorial Hall.
