New Grant Means Cheaper Heating Bills for Ryedale
A
new grant, used to fund insulation for Ryedale residents, has been
announced by Ryedale District Council and Yorkshire Energy
Partnership today.
The grant will mean free external wall
insulation for any Ryedale residents who are off- mains
gas, with solid walls (usually homes built pre-1920s, without a
cavity) and in receipt of qualifying
benefits.
Funded by British Gas, the grant aims to tackle fuel
poverty by helping to reduce heat loss by around 45% and saving
residents up to £640 a year on heating bills*.
New methods mean that residents with solid walls can now be
successfully insulated by applying cladding to the outside of a
property and covering it with a render finish. This reduces
draughts and often boosts the value of a property.
Cllr Linda Cowling, Chairman of Ryedale District Council's
Commissioning Board said:
"This free insulation offer is open to any private homeowner,
private tenant or landlord who heats their homes using solid fuel
or electricity in the entire Ryedale area and are in receipt of
income-related benefits – but funding is only available until
Autumn 2012 so it's vital that people contact Yorkshire Energy
Partnership as soon as possible on 01904 55 44 06."
"Even if you don't qualify for free external wall insulation,
there are still huge discounts available through this scheme –
offering at least 50% off - so we're urging people to take full
advantage while funds last."
