Garden Waste Collections
With Spring just around the corner Ryedale District Council will
be resuming alternate week garden waste collections from Monday 1
March 2010. Garden waste, in your brown wheeled bin or bio bags,
will be collected on the same day as your cans, glass and
paper.
"Ryedale District Council has been running a pilot, collecting
garden waste once per month over the winter period, " said Phil
Long, Head of Environment. The success of the pilot will be
assessed, looking at how much waste was collected in each of the
winter months, as well as efficiency savings and reductions in
CO2 emissions.
We would like to thank residents for their continued successful
contribution to achieving a 53% level of recycling in the District.
This is a fantastic achievement maintaining Ryedale's status as the
top recycling area in the Yorkshire and Humber for the
5th year running and amongst the best in the UK.
Your views are important to the Council and a customer feedback
survey will be carried out to help us measure the impact and
success of monthly garden waste collections. If you have any
comments on the pilot, please email streetscene@ryedale.gov.uk
or telephone (01653) 600666 ext 486.
