Drugs Awareness Raising Day
Safer Ryedale held drop in sessions to give people advice about
drug and alcohol abuse on Wed 9 June in Helmsley and Pickering
Market Place. The sessions were designed to be an informal
way to get information out to people and to answer any queries
people might have.
Sandi Clark, Crime & Disorder Officer said, “Drug-related
crime is not a huge problem in Ryedale and we hope to keep it that
way. If anybody gives us information, that is brilliant
because that is what we need. Whether it is somebody who is
concerned about the level of drug and alcohol abuse or somebody who
has a problem”.
Police were available on the day to hear information about
trouble spots in the towns. Safer Ryedale were on hand to
tackle any questions relating to drug misuse and how it effects
people of all ages.
Safer Ryedale fund two young persons drug and alcohol workers to
work in Ryedale for four hours a week, the main aim of which is to
educate people of the risks involved in alcohol and drug
misuse.
