Ryedale adds its support to Armed Forces Day
Ryedale District Council has added its support to a national
event to show appreciation for the efforts of Her Majesty's Armed
Forces.
On Monday 21 June at 10.30am Cllr Tony
Hemesley, Chairman of Ryedale District Council will be raising a
special flag as part of a short ceremony at Ryedale House to
commemorate Armed Forces Day.
Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the nation to show
support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces
community: from currently serving troops to Service families, and
from veterans to recruits.
As part of the event local authorities throughout the country
will be flying a flag for the armed forces from Monday 21 June
until Monday 28 June.
And Ryedale District Council will be flying the flag for the
armed forces at its headquarters at Ryedale House, Malton to show
its support for the event.
"Our armed forces – past and present - play a vital role
to our security and well-being," said Cllr Lt Col Tony Hemesley,
Chairman of Ryedale District Council.
"Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the whole country to
show support for their sterling efforts and we are delighted to be
flying the flag at Ryedale House.
"Ryedale servicemen and women (past and present) are most
welcome to attend the flag raising event on June 21."
The flag raising ceremony will be held at Ryedale House on
