The Business Development team work with individual
businesses to assist them to realise their full potential, raise
the quality standard of accommodation and attractions in the area,
encourage the increased use of IT and on-line booking systems and
encourage sustainable tourism.
To achieve our aim of raising the quality standard of tourism
businesses we encourage them to apply for an official quality
assurance rating with either VisitBritain or the AA. Advice and
information on the schemes can be obtained from the Business
Development team.
Businesses who are already Quality Assured and using the
Guestlink on-line booking scheme, can receive financial assistance
to purchase further Guestlink modules. This will enable them to
take bookings through their own website and manage their customer
records. This fund is limited so first come, first served.
We also encourage sustainable tourism and assist businesses to
join the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Two seminars have been held
to date, in May and November 2008. Look out for news of future
events.
In addition to the above activities we facilitate a number of
tourism related training courses and workshops across the YMCTP
area. Recent subjects have included the Welcome to Excellence suite
of customer care courses, the Green Tourism Business Scheme and
Basic First Aid. Courses on various aspects of running a successful
tourism business are planned in the near future.
