The Business Development team work with individual businesses to
assist them to realise their full potential, raise the quality
standard of accommodation and attractions in the area, encourage
the increased use of IT and on-line booking systems and encourage
sustainable tourism.
To achieve our aim of raising the quality standard of tourism
businesses we encourage them to apply for an official quality
assurance rating. We can offer grants of up to 50% of the cost of
first year's fees (excluding VAT) for VisitBritain or AA offical
quality assurance schemes. Limited funds are available so grants
are offered on a first come, first served basis.
Businesses who are already Quality Assured can receive financial
assistance to purchase IT equipment to help them with taking
on-line bookings and marketing. This fund is limited too so the
same applies, first come, first served.
We also encourage sustainable tourism and assist businesses to
join the Green Tourism Business Scheme. The next seminar will be
held later in 2008 when a group of tourism businesses will be
selected for assistance under this scheme.
In addition to the above activites we facilitate a number of
tourism related training courses and workshops across the YMCTP
area. Recent subjects have included the Welcome to Excellence suite
of customer care courses and the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
Courses on various aspects of running a successful tourism business
and Basic First Aid are planned in the near future. A
Marketing Seminar will be held on 4 November 2008 at The Feathers,
Helmsley. This seminar is already fully booked but look out for
news of a second seminar planned for late November.
