Archives
Archives for the Ryedale area are held at North Yorkshire
County Council. The County Record Office cares for millions of
documents of all shapes, sizes and ages which are used to obtain
information for many personal, legal, administrative and historical
purposes, such as: tracing ancestors, family history and genealogy;
tracing ownership of property; determining the status of rights of
way; discovering the positions of boundaries; investigating a wide
variety of public and personal rights and problems which occur in
current everyday affairs; and helping people at various educational
levels to understand life, work and people in the past. For more
information visit the Archives section of the North Yorkshire
County Council website or the National Archives website.
