The Ryedale calendar is packed with exciting events and fun
filled days out. Our agricultural shows offer a great day's
entertainment and celebrate a traditional way of life in rural
Yorkshire. Where else can you see all kind of livestock, show
jumping, onions the size of footballs and buy outdoor clothing
often at reduced prices?

Diamond Jubilee Celebration
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend is on 2 June 2012, with
two bank holidays on 4 and 5 June. If your
community is planning a celebration or bonfire or beacon, the
advice opposite may be of use to you. There is also an application
form for road closure. If you wish to apply for a road closure
order, you apply to North Yorkshire County Council. If you
apply for this before 4 May, North Yorkshire County Council
will waive the £300 fee.

2012 Torch Relay
Ryedale District Council and Pickering Town Council are thrilled
to welcome the Olympic torch on its 70 day journey around the UK,
to Pickering on Monday 18 June 2012.
A 'Community Task Force' is working on plans to welcome the
torch and ensure that as many people as possible are able to see
the film and share in the excitement of the London Games. If
