Ryedale possesses a large number of attractive towns,
villages and hamlets. Many of these contain areas of considerable
environmental character and architectural or historic
interest.
Local Planning Authorities have a duty to determine which areas in
their district are of a high enough quality to be designated as
Conservation Areas, those areas tend to be those that the Council
feels have the most important environmental quality in the
District.
