How to Apply
A full information pack containing details of the post, the Section which the role is based in and general information on Ryedale District Council, is available with each advertised post online at North Yorkshire Together* and those advertised on this website.

You can complete the application form included in the pack or complete the electronic Job Application Form. A hard copy can also be requested from hr@ryedale.gov.uk or by telephone on 01653 600666 ext 288.  Please state the post you are applying for and your contact details.  All applications must be made on the Council's hard copy or electronic application forms; CVs will not be accepted.

Please note: Shortlisting will be based on how closely candidates match the essential and desirable criteria listed in the Person Specification for the post.

Positive about Disabled People - We follow guidance from JobCentre Plus and use the 'two ticks' disability symbol to highlight that we make five commitments regarding recruitment, training, retention, consultation and disability awareness.  Further information on these commitments can be found on the DirectGov website.

Please note that, in the interests of economy, acknowledgements of applications will not normally be made. Shortlisted candidates will be informed of the selection process as soon as possible. Applicants who have not been shortlisted will be sent a letter informing them of the outcome.

Our policy requires that all applicants must apply to a current vacancy; therefore speculative applications will not be accepted.

"Bureau" work
The Council also maintains a list of people interested in, and available to work on a temporary, short term basis. These are normally clerical or administrative vacancies, but can also be for general skills like cleaning, lifting, driving, labouring etc. Once you are listed on the Bureau, we will contact you as and when a suitable placement arises.

Please complete one of our job vacancy application forms and mark it as 'Bureau' at the top where it asks you which post you are applying for and then either post it to Human Resources or email it to hr@ryedale.gov.uk. Please note we will only accept applications for the Bureau and not other speculative applications.

We will then contact you to arrange an informal chat and a short IT test (if applicable) to determine your skills.

Please be aware that we only have a small operation and we currently already have a number of people on the Bureau system. This of course could change at any time but we cannot guarantee any work if you apply for the Bureau.

For further information please contact 01653 600666 ext 350/370 or hr@ryedale.gov.uk.

Relocation Policy
The Council has a Relocation Policy which may provide financial support for employees of the authority moving to the area in order to commence their employment. A copy of the full Policy is available from the HR section.

Data Protection
Any personal information supplied to the Council by way of a job application will be used only for its intended purpose, that is, for recruitment and selection. Successful candidates' applications will obviously be retained throughout their employment; all other applicants' information will be destroyed six months from receipt. Information received via equal opportunities forms will be used for monitoring purposes only and also destroyed six months after receipt.
