Sheltered and Supported Housing

The Supporting People programme plans, commissions and fundsSupporting People Programme logo housing related support for vulnerable people in North Yorkshire. 
 
The programme is operated at a local authority level and is administered by North Yorkshire County Council on behalf of the wider partnership.
 
Supporting People is a preventative programme contributing to a range of other key government targets and objectives relating to:
  • tackling social exclusion
  • tackling homelessness
  • increasing the range and choice of housing open to people with learning disabilities
  • improving the quality of life and independence of vulnerable older people by supporting them to live in their own homes
  • increasing the participation of problem drug users in treatment
  • reducing re-offending
  • improving health outcomes for people with long-term conditions
  • ensuring that all under 18 teenage parents who cannot live with their family or partners are offered supported housing
  • enabling adults with mental health problems to live at home.
