Housing Advice
In 1991 the Council transferred its Council houses to Ryedale
Housing Association which manages them independently of the
Council.
The Council is still a statutory housing authority and has a
statutory duty to provide housing advice to those who request it on
matters such as rents, tenancy conditions, repairs, etc.

Housing Strategy for North Yorkshire
The Local Government York and North Yorkshire Housing
Partnership has agreed to develop the first Single Housing Strategy
for North Yorkshire.
The partnership comprises the seven Borough/District housing
authorities of North Yorkshire, the City of York Council, North
Yorkshire County Council, the North York Moors National Park and
the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The basis for the Strategy has been the North Yorkshire
Investment Plan 2008-2011 which focuses on the following key
regional objectives:
- Creating better places
- Delivering better homes, choice and opportunities
- Fair access
Initial consultation was carried out in early 2009 and the
draft Strategy document below has been produced for further
consultation.
