Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults
This page provides information about who to
contact if you are worried about a vulnerable adult.
Ryedale District Council is committed to
safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable adults and children who
we come into contact with through the services we provide.
Vulnerable Adults
If you are worried that a vulnerable adult is at risk of
immediate harm then you should contact North Yorkshire
Police on 0845 6060247 or if it is an emergency by dialing
999. If the adult is not in immediate danger contact the
customer services centre at North Yorkshire County Council,
telephone 0845 0349410 or email social.care@northyorks.gov.uk
without delay.
If you're worried about a vulnerable adult
visit the North Yorkshire County Council website for advice
What to do
if you are worried about abuse.
You can contact the helpline about any aspect of a vulnerable
adult's safety or wellbeing. Callers can remain anonymous if they
want to. Some people call for advice about the best thing to do,
other people have seen something that they feel uneasy about and
just want to talk to someone. This may lead to the matter being
referred to North Yorkshire County Council or the Police for them
to take it further.
Ryedale District Council Safeguarding
Policy
Ryedale District Council has a Safeguarding
Policy (PDF, 964k) which sets out what our staff
should do if they have concerns. It also outlines how we work with
our partner agencies to ensure that we protect vulnerable adults
and children.
North Yorkshire Safeguarding Adults
Board
The North Yorkshire Safeguarding Adults Board was set up to
protect adults who may be at risk from abuse and to promote
co-operation and effective working practices between different
agencies. Members include lead officers from social care services,
police, health, housing, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Care
Quality Commission and voluntary agencies.
