Accessibility
Accessibility is a general term used to describe how easy it
is for people to get to, use, and understand things.
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 gives disabled people
important rights of access to everyday information and services
that others take for granted.
Ryedale District Council must ensure it
- does not treat disabled people less favourably because they are
disabled
- is making reasonable adjustments to the way we
deliver our services so that disabled people can use them
- considers the possibility of making permanent physical
adjustments to our premises to ensure disabled people can
access them.
Ryedale District Council must also ensure that any
information or services available electronically are also
accessible to disabled people. The Council's website now meets
the Website Accessibility Initiative levels A and AA
except for a very small number of pages (for example the
discussion forums) which, due the technical nature of their
content, do not yet conform to these standards.
However, we are always looking to resolve these technical
issues to improve access for the whole community. The Council
welcomes your feedback and suggestions on how we can make our
website more accessible to you. Please view our Website
Accessibility Statement available from the link at the top of this
page.
Your ideas and suggestions can be sent to us using our
feedback form or via email at
