Green Wheelie Bins
A standard 240 litre green wheelie bin is provided for
non-recyclable waste. As an

alternative,
smaller 140 litre bins are available on request.
Properties unsuitable for wheelie bins or
where residents require assistance (due to medical conditions, age etc)
will be provided with 52 black liners per year for residual refuse
and 26 bio-degradable liners for garden waste. Properties on
liners may be provided with a green wheelie bin for storage of the
black liners containing non-recyclable waste.
Streetscene staff undertake random monitoring
of waste collection services throughout the district. Occasionally
we may come across a property where there are two standard 240
ltr. bins. In these circumstances we will usually contact the
occupier in writing, giving them notice that, except in
exceptional circumstances, we will remove the second
bin.
Extra Waste
Properties with five or more permanent occupants who find they
frequently have extra refuse may (at the discretion of the
Streetscene Manager and subject to investigation) be issued with an
additional 140 litre bin for non-recyclable waste. Click here to
download the Additional Bin Request
Form.
Residents who experience bin capacity
problems, due to a member of the household producing non-hazardous
medical waste will be issued with an additional 140 litre bin for
residual refuse at the discretion of the Streetscene Manager.

Who owns the equipment?
Containers remain the property of Ryedale District Council and must
be left at the property when residents move. Residents moving into
a previously occupied property should ensure that all containers
have been left. Containers for new properties will normally be
delivered within five working days. We will deliver
information on waste minimisation and recycling to new
properties.
If you have queries or require any further
information please email Streetscene or
telephone 01653 600666.
