From 1 July 2011, all Household Waste & Recycling Centres
will be closed each Wednesday. For more information select the link
on the right to North Yorkshire County Council's website.
The sites are located as follows.
- Corner Pasture Lane/Showfield Lane, Malton.
- Caulklands Quarry, Thornton le Dale.
- Wombleton (just off A170).
- Seamer Carr (near Morrisons supermarket in Scarborough
Borough Council area but available for residents of Sherburn and
Staxton areas).

The opening times for all sites are:
April to September 8.30 am - 7.00 pm;
October and March 8.30 am - 5.00 pm; and
November to February 8.30 am - 4.00 pm.
All the sites are open every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday apart from when those days
fall on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

What can be recycled at Household Waste
Recycling Centres (HWRCs)
Used engine oil can be disposed of at the Malton and Thornton
le Dale sites only.
Asbestos may be disposed of at the Malton site. It must
be bagged in two layers of plastic and securely sealed/taped. We
advise you to contact the site before you take asbestos to ensure
that there is enough space and there is someone there to assist

Provision of civic amenity sites, known as Household
Waste Recycling Centres, which may be used by local residents
(usually free of charge) and businesses (usually charged). The
sites provide facilities for the collection and recycling of all
household and garden waste other than anything which may be
considered as hazardous and requiring special treatment. They may
also be known as the tip, dump, civic amenity site, household waste
site.
