Science City
York
Science City York is a successful
business and skills development initiative, driving the creation
and growth of business and employment opportunities across York and
North Yorkshire within three fast-growing technology sectors –
bioscience, creative industries, and IT & digital.
Science City is funded through a
range of partners from the public and private sector, including
Yorkshire Forward (the Regional Development Agency for Yorkshire
and the Humber) and provides a range of support services to assist
in the creation and growth of technology-based businesses,
entrepreneurs and skills development opportunities.
Skills Funding
Agency
The Skills Funding Agency was set
up by the Government to fund and regulate adult skills training in
England.
They have taken over the work of
the Learning and Skills Council, which was closed down on 31 March
2010.
Yorkshire
Forward
Yorkshire Forward is the Regional
Development Agency charged with improving the Yorkshire and Humber
economy.
Business IT Guide
The Yorkshire Business IT Guide is an online tool designed to
help smaller businesses in using ICT to improve efficiency and
productivity. The Guide enables businesses to access a wide range
of high quality independent advice to help them fully exploit
ICT.

How does it work?
There are five separate routes to
advice and information to reflect that people like to access

& facts designed to have an immediate impact
- The Guide library – all 76 Business IT Guides are listed here
for those people who know what they want
- Search facilities – there are three separate search facilities
for those who just want to browse
- News, articles and blogs – thought-provoking content
designed to encourage people to take action
