Environmental Health Training
Environmental health officers (
EHOs
)are highly qualified
professionals whose work, as well as being varied and challenging,
makes a real difference to people's health and well-being.
EHOs
work to
ensure that the food we eat is safe and of good quality, to improve
housing conditions, to safeguard standards of workplace health and
safety and to create a better environment, for example by tackling
air pollution problems.
To develop a career in environmental health you need to
undertake an accredited course that is recognised by the
Environmental Health Officers Registration Board. Training
includes a work experience placement with a local authority.
The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
(CIEH
) is
an independent professional body and registered charity
representing those who work in environmental health and related
disciplines. They offer a range of accredited training and
professional development courses.
