Environmental Health

Ryedale District Council's Environmental Health team provides a range of services which are broadly concerned with protecting public health and safety.

Food hygiene inspections are carried out at more than 900 food premises in Ryedale.  Health and safety inspections and investigations into reportable accidents are carried out at more than 1300 premises.

The enforcement of pollution controls sees continuous monitoring of air quality, investigations into a wide range of complaints concerning air quality, malodour and noise and the monitoring of private water supplies and contaminated land.

Pest Control provide a range of services to residents and businesses and the Dog Warden provides advice and guidance on animal welfare and enforces dog fouling laws.

The Licensing team provide a wide variety of licences for premises such as pet shops, riding establishments, acupuncturists, tattooists, ear piercing, premises providing public entertainment, charitable collections and lotteries.
