Unauthorised Building Works

If you have carried out building works without first obtaining Building Regulations Approval you could face prosecution by the Council. Although it is not something that we want to do and is usually the last course of action only taken should we have no further options. Generally we will invite you to apply for a Regularisation Certificate. This is making a normal full plans submission, but after the event.

Ryedale District Council is responsible for ensuring that buildings are properly designed and constructed so as to ensure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people using them.

All building work must comply with the Building Regulations current at the time the work is undertaken.

The North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership (NYBCP) provides a building control service to Hambleton, Richmondshire, Ryedale, Scarborough and Selby Councils.

Information and relevant documentation on its services can be found on the NYBCP website.
