School admissions - appeals

North Yorkshire County CouncilA pupil may appeal for a place at any community school to which they apply and for which they have been refused a place. This could be because the school is oversubscribed (that is there are more pupils applying to go there than there are places available) or, in the case of selective grammar schools, because your child did not achieve the cut-off mark needed. The responsibility for appeals rests with the Local Authority.
