Statutory development plans
The Statutory Development Plan consists of the saved policies of
the Ryedale Local Plan (2002) and the planning policy documents of
the Local Development Framework know as 'The Ryedale Plan', and the
Regional Spatial Strategy. All information about
the various elements of The Development Plan
are available by clicking on the link below.Development plans
focus on land use development and protection set within the context
of wider social, economic and environmental trends and
considerations.
Ryedale District Council Local Plan
The Ryedale Local Plan was adopted in March 2002 and contains a
range of planning policies that are used to make decisions on all
planning applications submitted to the Council. It also sets out
how and where new development should take place in the District’s
towns and villages over the period to April 2006. For further
information on the Local Plan please visit the Local Plan
website.
The Council adopted a new affordable housing policy in
November 2004 as a selective alteration to the Local Plan. This
policy replaces policies H18 and H19 of the Local Plan.
Ryedale Local Development Framework
The
Ryedale Local Development Framework
(LDF) will, in time, replace the Local Plan. It will be made up
of a series of documents that will facilitate and control future
land use and development throughout the District. Together, they
will manage change and growth in Ryedale by ensuring that the right
types of development come forward at the right time and in the
right place.
Regional Spatial Strategy
The Development Plan for Ryedale also includes, for the
time being, the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for Yorkshire and
the Humber. The RSS provides an important strategic context for the
production of LDF documents, which have to be in general conformity
with RSS.Decisions on planning applications will be made on the
basis of the policies contained within all
three documents, as well as national planning guidance.
Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) for Yorkshire and the Humber
to 2026 was published in May 2008.
