The Chairman of Council is elected for one term of office by
The Chairman chairs meetings of the full Council, represents the
District Council at ceremonial occasions and is invited to attend a
wide range of events and presentations.
Councillor Janet Frank was elected as Chairman on Thursday, 16
May 2013 and has been a Member of Ryedale District Council for 6
years, representing the Dales Ward.
Janet is married to Mike. They have a daughter Carolyn who will
be Cllr Frank’s Consort during her year in office.
Janet was brought up in Farndale and educated at Ryedale School.
Cllr Frank has worked in the hotel industry for most of her life
and has run the Moors Inn at Appleton-le-Moors for the past 11
Janet, a Conservative member of Ryedale District Council, is
also a member of the North York Moors National Park Authority and
is a trustee of the Ryedale Folk Museum’s Harrison Collection.
Her chosen charities for the year are Farndale Village Hall
Restoration, Ryedale Folk Museum and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Councillor Ann Hopkinson has been elected as the Vice-Chairman
for the Council.
