Statement
North Yorkshire County Council Education Service provides a
wide variety of specialist support to ensure that all children and
young people have access to educational provision which is
appropriate to their special educational needs. This will enable

If it is decided a statement is needed this
will describe the child's needs, the special educational provision
that will be made for the child and the type and name of the
school, when this has been decided. It will also describe help to
be provided by Health Services, Social Services and other
agencies.

Transport
North Yorkshire County Council’s transport policy for
statemented pupils is that entitlement to free home to school
transport will be in line with the County Council’s Home to School
Transport Policy, unless they decide differently after consultation
as part of the statutory assessment process. The Home-to-School
Transport Policy is free transport for:
- secondary school pupils if the walking distance, measured by
the nearest available route, is three miles or more;
- primary age pupils if the walking distance, measured by the
nearest available route, is two miles or more from either the
school we have said is the normal school serving your child’s home
or your preferred school if that school is nearer to your child’s
home than the normal school We will review transport needs when
your child transfers from primary to secondary school.
