In 1991 the Council transferred its Council House properties to Ryedale Housing Association, now Yorkshire Housing, which manages them independently of the Council. The Council is still a statutory housing authority and has a statutory duty to provide housing advice to those who request it on matters such as rents, tenancy conditions, repairs, etc.
