Procurement - policy
The way in which we purchase goods, works and services for the
Council is governed by our
Constitution (Contract
Procedure Rules, Financial Procedure Rules and Financial Standing
Orders). It is our duty to secure value for money for the Council
on behalf of taxpayers whilst ensuring the quality of services
provided. Our aim is to be open, fair and transparent in how we
select, appoint and award contracts.
The Councils of Ryedale, Selby and Scarborough jointly spend
£53 million every year on the supplies, services and works needed
to deliver services to public of all areas. How well we
procure those requirements has a critical impact on our performance
and ability top provide value for money.
The Joint Procurement Strategy sets out the over-arching
framework which will help to ensure that together our procurement
delivers excellent value and supports the attainment of both
councils’ priorities and visions. For more details please see links
panel to the right.

We have produced some information to help potential
contractors and suppliers understand how we are working towards the
integration of Equality & Diversity with procurement.
Guidance
Our guidance booklet gives information and
advice on how we will provide equality in the procurement of goods,
works and services and what we expect from contractors and
suppliers during the procurement process.
Equality
We have also included some helpful draft
templates for contractors, a list of
frequently asked questions and a link to the
equality scheme.
