Broadband
Ryedale suffers from poor quality broadband throughout the
District. NYCC, through the Connecting North Yorkshire
Partnership, are administering Central Government Funding to bring
High Quality Broadband (>2Mbps) to as much of North Yorkshire as
possible.
We are working with partners (including Ryedale Voluntary
Action) to identify the aspirations of both businesses and
communities that are seeking to improve their broadband connections
in rural areas of Ryedale.
Three local steering groups have been established in
the Ampleforth, Great Wolds Valley and Southern West Ryedale
areas. They are completing the application forms for grant
aid to attract an Internet Service Provider to design, build and
operate high speed broadband schemes locally - likely to be
wireless systems.
We are partners in 'Connecting North Yorkshire' a partnership to
bring high speed broadband to all of North Yorkshire by 2017.
More details can be found on the NYCC website NYCC . and look for the 'Go On'
brand.
If you are experiencing poor access to broadband, please log
onto the broadband questionnaire (link given to the left) to
highlight your current speeds and register your interest in a new
scheme.
Alternatively email us at Economy and Community. to put
you in touch with your nearest local scheme.
A pilot project to encourage businesses to use high speed broadband
has been launched at the York Road Industrial Estate in
Malton, in partnership with the Local Enterprise Partnership.
Business advise regarding the contribution that high speed
broadband can make to reducing costs or growing your business,
coupled with a grant to implement the advice that are on offer.
Contact us at Economy and Community. to learn
more about this time limited scheme.
Community Investment Prospectuses /
Market Town Masterplans
Thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council’s Single
Regeneration Budget Round 6 (SRB6), and from Yorkshire Forward’s
Market Towns Initiative and Renaissance Market Towns programmes,
each of the four market towns in Ryedale now has a Local Area
Partnership and a comprehensive plan for their town for the next
ten to fifteen years. Originally these plans were known as
Community Investment Prospectuses; now they are often referred to
as masterplans or action plans.
The partnerships form part of the Ryedale Strategic
Partnership, which gives each partnership financial support to
enable it to hold and service meetings, to produce publicity
material and to update their plans from year to year. The
plans form part of Yorkshire Forward’s sub-regional investment
plan.
The four partnerships are,
- The Malton and Norton Area Partnership
- Pickering Town Team
- Kirkbymoorside - Our Future
- Future of Helmsley Group (an advisory committee of Helmsley
Town Council)
