Council Tax Support - new claim

Local Council Tax Support Scheme (LCTSS) is the councils' scheme to replace Council Tax Benefit in Ryedale.

From 1 April 2013, the government is abolishing the national Council Tax Benefit system and asking councils to introduce a local council tax support scheme to replace it – the Local Council Tax Support Scheme (LCTSS) is the councils' scheme to replace Council Tax Benefit in Ryedale.

All working age people who claim Council Tax Benefit will be affected by these changes and will have to pay 8.5% of the full Council Tax charge. Although pensioners will move onto the new benefit, they are protected and will receive the same amount of support as they did under Council Tax Benefit.
