Council Tax: annual notification
Council Tax is payable on most domestic dwellings and is
charged by the local authority to pay for the services it
provides. There will be one bill per dwelling, whether it is a
house, bungalow, flat, maisonette, mobile home
or houseboat, and whether it is owned or rented.
You’ll usually get your Council Tax bill in March, sent
by post, along with an explanatory booklet and you will have a
number of options for paying the bill. Your first instalment
will be due for payment on 1 April. Your Council Tax bill shows the
amount of each instalment and the date when each one should be
paid. Normally, you’ll be offered 10 instalments, although that
number will be lower if the bill is issued after the end of
April.
For information on methods of payment please see How to Pay or, if
you wish to pay by Direct Debit, access the online form in the
Downloads section (to the right on this page), or the mandate on
the reverse of your new bill and return it to the Revenues Services
or telephone us with your bank details.
When you receive your new Council Tax bill if you have any
queries about your banding you need to contact the Valuation
Office: telephone: 03000 501501, email: Valuation Office or via
their website under Useful Links (to the right on this page).
If you have any other queries with your new bill you can either
visit your nearest Ryedale District Council office or phone or
contact us by e-mailing Council Tax.
