Central to Community Economic Development is assisting
communities to develop and to provide for their own needs.
Economy and Community provides support to the community
in a number of ways:
- Village Hall grants
- Membership of the North Yorkshire Community Development
Partnership
- Work with Local Area Partnerships or Town Teams on developing
and implementing Market Town Masterplans/Action Plans
Community Investment Prospectuses/Market
Town Masterplans
Thanks to funding from North Yorkshire County Council’s Single
Regeneration Budget Round 6 (SRB6), and from Yorkshire Forward’s
Market Towns Initiative and Renaissance Market Towns programmes,
each of the four market towns in Ryedale now has a Local Area
Partnership and a comprehensive plan for their town for the next
ten to fifteen years. Originally these plans were known as
Community Investment Prospectuses; now they are often referred to
as Masterplans or Action Plans.
The partnerships form part of the Ryedale Strategic
Partnership, which gives each partnership financial support to
enable it to hold and service meetings, to produce publicity
material and to update their plans from year to year. The
plans form part of Yorkshire Forward’s sub-regional investment
plan.
The four partnerships are,
- The Malton and Norton Area Partnership
- Pickering Town Team
- Kirkbymoorside - Our Future
- Future of Helmsley Group (an advisory committee of Helmsley
Town Council)
